Commercial Food Dehydrators
Compare drying space, controls and batch requirements
Explore commercial food dehydrators for preparing dried fruit, vegetables, herbs, mushrooms and other compatible ingredients. The Bramfords range includes two 10-tray models and an 18-tray model, with adjustable temperature settings for different drying requirements.
Choose by usable tray area and your intended batch, rather than tray count alone. Compare the product specifications for dimensions, temperature control, airflow and electrical configuration. For other preparation machines, explore our commercial kitchen equipment.

Choosing a commercial food dehydrator
The right food dehydrator should suit what you are drying, how much you prepare per batch and the space available in your kitchen or preparation area. Start with the ingredient and finished result, then compare the tray layout, temperature adjustment and operating instructions of each machine.
This collection focuses on tray-based equipment for smaller-scale preparation. If your requirement involves continuous production or a particular kilogram output per hour, include those details in a commercial equipment quotation request so the available options can be reviewed against your process.
Compare the current Bramfords dehydrators
Use this table to identify the main listed differences, then open the individual product pages for the complete specification and available configuration. A higher tray count does not automatically mean greater drying area or faster batches.
| Model | Listed configuration | What to compare before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| 10-Tray Food Dehydrator | 10 removable stainless-steel trays; listed 30–90°C adjustment | Usable tray dimensions, controls, clearance and the electrical option for your premises |
| 18-Tray Commercial Food Dehydrator | 18 trays; 800W rated power; listed 30–90°C adjustment; approximately 285 × 200mm trays | Tray spacing, ingredient thickness and cabinet access; compare usable area rather than assuming 18 trays holds more than every 10-tray model |
| H-HGJ10X 10-Tray Food Dehydrator | 10 removable trays; listed 30–90°C adjustment; electronic temperature and timing controls | Tray dimensions, timer settings, airflow and operating limits for your intended batch |
Drying capacity: tray count is only part of the comparison
Usable tray area
Check the length and width of the drying surface. Ten larger trays may offer more usable space than eighteen smaller trays. Total tray area provides a better starting point than the number of levels, but it still does not establish how many kilograms of every ingredient can be processed.
Food must be arranged according to the operating instructions, with room for circulating air. The loading pattern for thin fruit slices will differ from the space required by thicker pieces or whole ingredients.
Tray spacing and ingredient thickness
Compare the vertical clearance between trays with the thickness of the food you prepare. The 18-tray listing describes approximately 25mm spacing between tray positions. Confirm whether that suits your ingredients and whether removing trays is permitted when additional clearance is needed.
Batch duration and daily workflow
Drying is a batch process. When planning daily output, include preparation, loading, drying, unloading and cleaning. A tray count is not an hourly production rating, and a batch that fits inside the cabinet may still take longer than your working schedule allows.
Temperature, timing and airflow
The current product listings describe adjustable temperature ranges of approximately 30–90°C. This is a machine setting range, not a universal recommendation for every food. Choose operating conditions according to the ingredient, preparation method and applicable process instructions.
Controls that suit your process
Check how temperature and duration are adjusted, the available timer range and what happens at the end of a timed cycle. Do not assume that every digital controller provides programmable stages or the same automatic shut-off behaviour.
The H-HGJ10X listing describes electronic temperature and timing controls. Review its instructions for the functions available on the supplied configuration.
Air movement and loading
Airflow arrangements and loading instructions should be compared alongside temperature control. Avoid treating fan-assisted drying as a guarantee that every tray will finish at exactly the same time. Check whether the manufacturer recommends rotating trays, inspecting different levels or adjusting the loading pattern.
Choosing equipment for different ingredients
Fruit and vegetables
Consider the size of your prepared pieces, the drying surface and the amount you need to arrange without overcrowding. If you prepare fruit slices for snacks or drinks, compare the tray layout with your typical batch.
For smaller pieces, confirm whether compatible mesh liners or other accessories are required and included.
Herbs and mushrooms
Check the manufacturer's guidance for the particular ingredient, including temperature adjustment and how smaller pieces should be supported on the trays. A lower minimum temperature may be relevant to your process, but the setting range alone does not establish suitability for every delicate ingredient.
Meat and jerky applications
If you intend to prepare meat or jerky, confirm the model's suitability and the instructions for that application before choosing equipment. A high maximum temperature setting does not by itself establish a safe meat-drying process. Equipment selection should follow the requirements of your food-production method, including preparation and temperature control.
Stainless-steel trays, cabinet materials and cleaning
Check which components are stainless steel and which grade is stated for each. The tray material and cabinet material may differ: the 18-tray product listing describes SUS304 trays and SUS201 housing for documented versions. A reference to stainless-steel trays should not be read as a claim that every component uses the same grade.
Removable trays provide access for cleaning, but confirm the approved cleaning method and whether any components are dishwasher suitable. Check access around tray runners, the cabinet interior and door seals, where fitted.
Follow the supplied instructions rather than assuming that all stainless-steel surfaces tolerate the same chemicals or cleaning equipment.
Countertop space and electrical requirements
Measure the complete working area, not just the cabinet footprint. Allow for opening the door, removing loaded trays, ventilation and access to controls. Check the delivery route and whether the intended surface can support the machine in use.
Select the electrical configuration for the supply available at your premises. Confirm voltage, frequency, phase and connection requirements on the chosen variant. Product titles may describe several options; they should not be interpreted as meaning one supplied machine automatically accepts every voltage.
Rated wattage is not a drying-speed comparison or a precise running-cost figure. Compare usable capacity and operating requirements first. Actual electricity consumption depends on how the machine operates during the drying cycle.
Before you order
- Ingredient: confirm the intended food and the preparation method.

If a specification needed for your process is not stated, contact Bramfords before ordering. Include the model, ingredient, batch requirement and the detail you need confirmed.
Food dehydrator buying questions
Should I choose a 10-tray or 18-tray dehydrator?
Compare tray dimensions, total usable area, spacing and the batches you prepare. The 18-tray model offers more tray positions, but this does not establish greater capacity than every 10-tray machine. Two machines with the same tray count can also differ in controls, dimensions and working space.
How long does food take to dry?
There is no single drying time for every batch. The ingredient, thickness, loading, temperature and required finished result affect the process. Use the appropriate instructions for the food and machine rather than applying one estimated time to all products.
Can different ingredients be dried together?
Only where their preparation and operating requirements are compatible with the machine's instructions and your process. Ingredients may require different temperatures and durations. Do not assume that separate trays make every combination suitable.
Does drying establish a fixed storage life?
No. The machine's settings alone do not establish the finished food's storage life. Preparation, the completed drying process, packaging and storage conditions all need to be considered for the particular product.
Can I buy a dehydrator as part of a wider equipment order?
Yes, you can submit the models and quantities through our Request a Quote page. Browse the parent Commercial Kitchen Equipment collection for other preparation machines.
Where can I check delivery and after-sales support?
